The developer of Coomera East Shopping Centre needs the community to support its application to have its Woolworths supermarket expanded from 2,000sqm to 3,000sqm. Below are just a few reasons why, with more detailed information available on the FAQ page.

Coomera is the fastest growing area on the Gold Coast, with Queensland Government research showing the population is expected to explode from 9,075 people (ABS census 2011) to some 63, 762 people by 2036.

The aim of expanding the Woolworths supermarket is to provide adequate amenity for this growing population. Woolworths’ own research and store modeling supports the fact that the current 2,000sqm supermarket will not be able to support the amount of stock required to effectively service a growing population over the medium to long term.

The provision of extra floor space will not only increase the variety of items available to customers, but will also lead to the creation of additional jobs and greater convenience for locals wanting a full-line supermarket at their doorstep.
